First AI ship sets off to cross the Atlantic

The fully autonomous ship “Sunflower” left Plymouth on the 16. Sep. 2020 and will spend the next 6 month researching plastic waste and other things during its voyage

The Sunflower is a research project between the Marine organisation Promare and IBM to test new ways of marine research. The ship will according to BBC both be navigate and do research using artificial intelligence, during the journey between Plymouth in UK and Plymouth in USA
