A pair of mittens that rose to fame

Bernie Sanders Mittens went viral

Text and drawing by Frits Ahlefeldt

The story of a pair home-made mittens that rose to fame this week…
Worn by US Senator Bernie Sanders at the US inauguration day and now shared across the web as memes tagged #berniesmittens
.
Local Vermont school teacher Jen Ellis made them in hand in 2016, out of recycled wool and synthetic recycled materials, and gave the mittens to Senator Bernie Sanders as a gift the same year.

The now famous mittens today helps raise money for a foodbank and other non-profit projects in several ways, like through local Vermont company: darntough.com
